We are really lucky to have a continental climate in Madrid, with a lot of sunshine and mostly windless, which helps to know that the temperature you have is what you feel. Rain use to come in fall and spring, but never in a way to ruin your mountain bike holidays. Let´s take a look season by season:
Spring is when things start to get warmer in Madrid and we spread our scope to for some enduro mountain bike fun in the highest mountains, combining with the low lands singletracks. It is the time of the year where rivers have plenty of stream and nature in Madrid gets wild.. Temperatures will be between 15 / 20ºC and weather can be a bit more wet, although with plenty of sunny days.
Summer is when we choose to ride our bikes purely through high mountain trails. We are lucky to have in Madrid mountains up to 2,500 mtrs, which allow to ride in cool conditions even in the Madrid´s popular hot summers. It is a great opportunity to improve your skills in the dry and tricky ground of the Madrid mountains. Temperatures at this height will rarely go over 30ºC and we will enjoy high mountain landscapes in all its beauty
Autumn is our favourite season for mountain bike riding for obvious reasons. Temperature stands between 10 / 20ºC and rain comes, making the ground more sticky with plenty of grip. Woods are beautiful with leaves falling everywhere and wolves start to leave their shelters, looking for winter food.
Winter is a great time for enduro riding in Madrid. Snow rarely appears on low heights, so that we use to ride in the low lands of the sierra, where we find massive possibilities for Enduro mountain bike fun. Temperatures use to be between -2ºC - 8 ºC and it is mostly dry without wind. Lot of sunny winter days with blue sky wait for us in winter.
